Religious Education

ALLELUIA!! HE HAS RISEN!!

Welcome to St. Dorothea's Religious Education!

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Religious Education program will look very different this year than in the past.  After consulting with the Diocese and our Pastor, Fr. Mike, the following has been decided:

  • For the 1st semester, all grades will be conducted in a virtual online manner.
  • For the 2nd semester, if the situation improves, 2nd Grade (First Reconciliation / First Communion) and 8th Grade (Confirmation), will be in person; other classes will be virtual.

We'll be using software products whose purpose is to provide Religious Education in an interactive and educational manner for the children.  However, parent and guardian involvement will be needed and welcomed.

Registration begins at age 3 (Pre-K) and extends through 8th Grade.

Click on the link below for access to the Registration Forms - print, complete, and mail to St. Dorothea's Religious Education.  Please register early - it is important to know how many students will be involved.

Thank you very much - stay safe and healthy,

Blessings,

Deacon John                                                                                                                                          [email protected]                                                                                                                                      732-542-4095

During this difficult time Religious Education has endeavored to offer some simple activities that I hope the children will find both fun and religiously educational.  This page contains the following -

  • Gospel Readings - taken from a Children's Bible, they can be read by parents and guardians with their child(ren).
  • Bible Activities - based on Gospel Readings - can be printed and used by children (younger ones may need some help) - scroll down page to see the activity.
  • Word Searches - can be printed and used by children (again, younger ones may need some help).
  • Family Activities - for Grades Pre-K through 9 - with gratitude to Pflaum Publishing
  • Some short videos for students who are preparing to celebrate their First Communion (though any child can view them - read instructions first).

Since I developed some of the activities myself, any feedback is welcomed - activities too difficult, too easy, possible mistakes, and so on.  There may be more activities in the future.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

  • Acts 8:5-8, 14-17
  • 1 Peter 3:15-18
  • John 14:15-21

Discuss: In this week's Gospel, Jesus says we can love Him by choosing to follow His commandments.  In what ways do you choose to love others?

Let us pray for all the medical personnel and first responders who may be in dangerous situations as they attempt to help those who are ill, especially with Covid-19.  We are grateful to God for all they do and sacrifice.  We ask the Lord Jesus to protect and keep them safe.  Amen.
